HI Friends...

I'm looking at a 06 with 106k in good condition.

Needs AC work (at the very least compressor change) AND for some reason the RADIO PANEL is 'Sun-Damaged' (you can't really read it too well, faded or discolored). I can see the Reverse camera fine... but still not 100% clear.

The car is well kept and drives nice. I tried to run a CVTz50 code reader to see if the Trans had any issue BUT the program wasn't working right (Not sure why) ???

The car runs strong, shifts fine, but that was only a 10min test drive.

What do you think about this car...Owner wants 4k.

Thanks for your input!

PS. WHAT else should I be looking at?

The M's don't have CVT's, they're standard axial transmissions and CVTz50 won't know how to talk to the TCM. I'd get somebody with a good shop scanner to run comprehensive codes for you before you commit to it. Be aware that there are a lot of parts for the early M's (early being anything before about '13) that simply aren't available anymore, sometimes not even from Japan.

Thanks V ~

WOW... no more parts??? --- I thought these cars were just dressed up Maxima's ?

Guess not... Thinking further, limited parts is a BAD SIGN!

There was a guy in here just the other day who had a mirror pane stolen off (IIRC) a '12 and there are no new ones anyplace in North America. It's mostly those sorts of nuisance parts and interior trim that are hard to find, simply because Infiniti made a limited number of the cars and made a correspondingly small number of replacement parts. It isn't like, say, Altimas where they might have made half a million of them in a good year. According to wiki, '06 was the peak year for M35's and they made a whopping 25,658 units.

4k seems a little high considering the AC and radio. The CVT fluid should be checked, maybe find a shop that can do it properly if your reader wasn’t working. Definitely get a pre-purchase inspection to see what else might be lurking under the surface before you commit.

for parts, you would have to look for them thru a salvage yard for Infiniti's specifically. I've been lucky and got some real good parts thru salvage yards.
