I found a 1990 Nissan 300zx two seater N/A for $1500. It has just under 162k miles. It desperately needs a paint job. The interior isnt great. It could use new taillights. There's a lot of little cosmetic things wrong with it. But it runs and drives good.

I'm looking for a cheap, decently reliable weekend/track day car that I could fix up. I always keep up with the maintenance on my cars, and I won't be driving this car everyday.

Do you guys think this car is worth it for my purposes?

If you are planning on fixing it up, I say go for it. I would offer 1100.00 there is some serious "cosmetic" work

I would say No, don't buy it because there is ample evidence of serious abuse in that car's past via the pics, and also ample evidence of lackluster repairs at best and surely a complete and total lack of important maintenance of the engine electrical, suspension/brakes, and interior electronics and more of which none of the above are simple, cheap fixes.

Unfortunately the Z32 is a car that ONLY survives well if maintained correctly right from the start and until you buy it, and still will be a maintenance project for you just to keep current and working to satisfaction unless you do a lot of upgrading and maintenance of certain systems such as EFI and electrical. The car you posted here is not that, just the opposite and more of a parts car candidate and a car I'd only buy for about $800 max, and figure you need another $5K minimum (DIY) and probably nearer $6-7K if having the work done just to think it will work and last very long at all, much less look good with all of that body work/replacement needed.
