Hello, I have found this 1990 Nissan 300zx twin turbo for sale in my area and was wondering if I should buy it. The seller says it was in a flood but the engine has been rebuilt. He says he has been using about 2 bottles of power steering fluid a month because of the leak. Should I buy this car?

Honestly, if the car has been in a flood, walk away. Even though the engine has been "rebuilt", if it has water damage you could be looking at damage you cannot see at the moment. Rust, electrical issues in the future, washed out bearings, water in transmission, rear end, rust in gas tank/mixed with gas, internally rusted ecu. List can go on and on. Good price and looks good, but I would just walk away.

For nearly the same money a Z33 would be more dependable and cheaper to maintain even with double the miles.

"Power steering fluid" These cars use Dexron type ATF for their power steering, many newer cars do, it's thicker than standard power steering fluid and has a higher temperature range. It's not uncommon for people to use the wrong fluid and make a small leak worse. These cars do however have a tendency to blow out their high pressure house over time which might well be the issue, the hose is a couple hundred dollars and will take a couple hours to put in.
