Fyi, my car had an excessively high idle as a result of the coolant temperature sensor going out on my 95 a few years back.
Yeah I read that could be one of the issues. Guess it's worth 1400, going to go ahead and tow it home. Don't think 30+ minutes of driving it would be good for the trans with the idle that high.
It shouldn't matter at all once it's moving.
Put it in gear on a slope, when you're rolling about ten miles an hour. (Assuming you can put it in neutral first, without hitting drive.... I really don't know how the auto is set up. Or how any auto is set up) Just avoid traffic lights, those might end badly.
You could also adjust the IACV all the way down, and probably get it down to a normal fast idle. In fact, that might be the only problem. Let it warm up to see what it drops to first, and when it's fully warm try to adjust it to 7-800. Bring a screwdriver for said adjustment, but make sure to complete the deal before doing the adjustment.
Because 2k is like 700 high, and I think you can get it to like 1300 when hot, with the IACV. That means it COULD just be the IACV, and if not, you'll still be able to get hot idle down below normal fast idle.
The fact that it's had it's stock motor "swapped" either tells you that somebody doesn't know what they're talking about, or is trying to rip you off.
I'd offer lower, on account of him taking you for a sucker and telling you it's a ka24de swapped 92.
