So I am looking at this 240 vert that is not running right now but probably only has some small issues. The guy said when he got the car it had an overheating problem, so he replaced the radiator. He turned the car back on and it continued to overheat. He turned the car off and when he went to start it the next day it wouldn't turn over. I have some good guesses as to what is causing the problem, what I want to know is how much damage could have been done by having it overheat a few times? Its a 1993 with 140k miles on it and the guy said that there was a little bit of black smoke of it coming from the exhaust when it overheated. Should I be worried about something like the piston rings? Any idea on what the black smoke from overheating could be a symptom of? The car is in excellent and condition and he's asking $2,500, let me know what you think.

got to think worse case scenario. How much money will you have to spend to get it up and running again? I think $1000 is more than fair for a non running car.

Hi I am just wanted to ask some people what they think if they were offered a 1995 240sx 168,000 miles and the only problem is the the front barrings which cost one hundred dollars and the downside its has a rebuit title. Should I buy it for only $2000. Idk everytime i see a rebuilt car I avoid them but i test drove this and its awsome. What should I do.

Yeah, it does seem like a bit much. The car is super clean though and a has 5 speed swap, upgraded clutch with light weight flywheel, and an lsd. I haven't gone to see it yet but will probably check it out on Tuesday. His asking price is actually 3000 but I got him down to 2500 already.

None of that stuff bumps the value of the car up more than 200-400 bucks. You dont get the money you invest into your car back out when you sell it. A bone stock car is typically worth more than one with mods like that.

You can find mint, running s13's on ebay closing for between 2-3 pretty much regularly. I wouldnt pay over 1500 for a non running 'mint' s13.

I agreee $2000 is still alot for a non running car.You dont know if it has an upgraded clutch, flywheel, and lsd until you take it apart or drive it.

If you can't get it for less than $1500, it doesn't sound like a good deal to me!!

I wouldn't get it either. Any over heating is bad for motor, rods warping.. and if there's black smoke cause it over heated doesn't sound too good either.
