I found this nissan 240(s13) in this little dealership. it has 68,000 miles on it and is in pretty good shape..some minor body work is needed but that would be taken care of in the future. my problem is, i 'm 16 and i have a 94 honda civic ex with a skunk2 megapower catback exhaust and b and m shortshifter. my car has 138,000 miles on it but its ini great shape and a honda. i want to get the 240 because it has more potential than the civic, and i simply like the 240 better. HOwever

the 240 is an automatic. My civic is a standard and i dont' want to drive an automatic for too long. My question is, will it be a wise choice to get the 240 and swap the transmission to a manual one? will it be a hassle? i don't want to have to much trouble swaping it because i need to have a running car, and i don't have a million dollars..

What do you guys think of auto to manual swaps? thanks

p.s. I would like to get an sr20 or Rb engine in the future and swap the engine and transmission at once.

Manual swap is eassssyyyy. You can do it in 4 hours and for $300 to $500, depending on the upgrades you want to do. Look at the sticky.

I would recommend going KA24DET if it really only has 68,000 miles on it. Do like a stage 2 clutch and a lightweight flywheel. The KA-T setup is cheap, too, and is easier than an SR swap.

well

count : 150 for fixing old bushings in suspension to get rid of mysterious vibration you will have100 to tune the engine up a bit (spark plugs - fuel filter - spark plug wire - change all the fluids...)400 for the transmission swap + 250 at least for a new clutch // pressure plate using the stock flywheel.New tires ? 250$ at least for a good set.

so price of the car + 900 to get it to daily driver capabilities -- if nothing major is wrong with it and you do all the work yourself.

to help you with the rest and give you a little pespective before you buy one:

sr20 will run you about 2200 if you do the work yourself and you get a engine in decent shape

but more importantly to get a 240 to a good level handling - braking and go -- it will run you about 7k (including a swap) again doing all the work yourself

so now you know - dont want to discourage you at all -- just helping you make an informed decision
