Hi Everyone!! I am looking into purchasing my third 240. This one happens to be a vert. I am at crossroads at what price is fair for the car I am looking at. It is a 93 convertible with 155,000 miles. The price is 3500. The car is in sound condition with some rust and one of the top hydralics are bad. The car is all original and runs great. Can anyone help?

2.2k tops. Pics would help. But rust is a huge killer, and is NEVER isolated. Hydros going bad isn't good either.

I'd try to hit him for 1800-2100. The rust has to be taken care of immedeatly, the pump has to be fixed. both of these can add up, especially if youre not doing it yourself. but yes pics would help

The tribe has spoken. The price it too high. Goodbye!

Really, I agree. If it had less miles, or no rust, or no top issues, then $3500 would be reasonable. But given those issues, I'd shoot for $2k or less.

Heck, drive to IL and buy this one for $1877. It's the best deal I've seen for a while on the net. http://www.cars.com/go/search/...=true

Verts are not easy to come buy. I searched autotrader.com, cars.com, craigslist.org and other places online as well as local car lots for about three months before I finally came up with mine. In fact, I was even considering buying a freaking Sebring because I was having such a hard time finding a nice 240 vert at a reasonable price, but I finally found it on Craigslist (Atlanta.) The guy was asking for 3K. I talked him out of $150 and ended up paying $2850, but it had 117k miles, leather interior, a new JVC head unit (mp3 player ready) as well as new struts all the way around. Offer the guy something less. There isn't a "magic" number out there, as a car's worth is determined by how much you are willing to pay. When I bought mine, there were a couple of people that said they thought the price was a little high for mine, but if I found another one just like it, I would probably buy it and have a spare. >:P~ The bad cylinder (for the top) is almost a non-issue. I would bet it can be rebuilt in a shop (industrial/motor shop, not automotive) for a reasonable price. but rust is a bad thing. Use your best judgment.

Bryant
