So I currently drive a Nissan Frontier with many mods. So really like the nissan brand. Anyways, on my way home yesterday I saw someone selling a 1990 300zx. I think it is the GS version. It has 21,000 miles on it and in perfect condition. I talked with the guy a little bit and he said it was always garaged all its life. Now he offered it to me for $2,000.00. Now my idea is to put classic tags on it and keep it original. My question is... Is it worth it? Is this something to be a classic later in time. Or just drive it and enjoy??? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. hopefull z ownwer

Almost Sounds too good to be true. My first thought is it might possibly be a salvage title car.

If you don't buy it send me his number so I can buy it.

Good point. These cars are pretty much already classics. If there is nothing wrong with it, buy it. I wouldn't plan on daily driving it right away. Odds are it's gonna need a lot of reconditioning if it's been driven that little in 23 years.

Here is the step by step of what I would do:

1) Verify the vehicle has clean title. If yes, proceed. If no, stop here.
2) Confirm method of payment. Cash, check, charge, money order, cashier's check, paypal, casino tokens, or a turbotax refund check.
3) Drive, refuel, wash.
4) Repeat step 3 until desired outcome of Z-owner euphoria is achieved.

First of all, a 21k mile Z, even an N/A automatic would probably be worth at least 6k, so the price is scarily low. I would check it out VERY carefully, if you're not comfortable doing that take it somewhere and have it inspected. There's really not a lot special about the Z. if it's truly got that low of miles I'd be concerned about checking to see if it's been in a wreck, flooded, or something like that..

Before you drove it any length of time, I'd think you'd want to change the timing belt. For sure at 21k it's probably not been replaced, and I wouldn't go too far on a timing belt that's 23 years old. Really for that matter, you're still going to need to replace a lot of wear components like hoses, belts, bushings, dust boots, and so on. If everything checks out, it's probably still worth 5k as it sits if the engine and transmission are good.
