Should I buy a Nintendo 3DS?

I played with it at the mall yesterday and after adjusting my eyes a bit, I was amazed. Real 3D without glasses. Street Fighter looked amazing!

I rarely play games at all other than Simcity 4, Simcity 3000, and my Dreamcast, but I was hooked by the 3DS.

Pilot Wings 3DS looks amazing, but I worry that for $250 I'll be stuck with a gimmick that I might get bored with.

Nintendo always has a trick up it's sleeve to make you interested in the same device again even after you get bored. The only thing you really have to as yourself is: "Can I deal with all other game types after I get spoiled by this one?"

Most of the people I've talked with that have it ended up turning off the 3d anyway...

My take on the 3DS is: Wait until the software library gets better. The 3DS's launch lineup is terrible. There are a couple average games and a bunch of crap. There's NOTHING outstanding, nothing even particularly good. It may be months before anything noteworthy hits shelves. In the meantime the $250 console is a waste of money.

I bought a NEW Nintendo DS lite or something... The new small one, prior to the 3DS. Yes it was cool playing older games that I missed that came out on Gameboy Advanced.

But quickly, it got old. I reverted back to PC gaming, and sold it for $200 less then I spent on it, and games.

Waste of money.

The 3DS 3D hurt my eyes so bad I couldn't stand but about 5 minutes of it.

3D can DIF! It does look like a nice device though, but I hate portable gaming devices overall. I sold my PSP after a couple of months because it became pretty useless and boring really quick, it sat on my desk most of the time.

Buy another iPad, much better investment and they already have some awesome games

3D should not be the decision-making factor on the 3DS...whether deciding for or against.

I don't disagree, but what you need to realize is the 3DS is NOT just a DS Lite or DSi with 3D. It's a whole new console that happens to be backward compatible with DS games. Just as the Wii is the successor to the Gamecube, the 3DS is successor to the DS. The hardware is significantly more powerful, it has an analog stick, and it has more powerful software that enables better online services and a more streamlined whole-device experience in and out of games. It will also be featuring a Virtual Console store for Gameboy games, which is a HUGE selling point for me. The whole package is something that'll support better games in better ways.

I love my DS...without question the most used and most worthwhile of my console purchases. I have little doubt the 3DS will be the same...eventually. We just need to wait for it to acquire a decent library of titles.

Hmm.. Well I'll tell you I have never had a handheld console that I used much after the first month... Heck even my iPhone does not get much use for gaming even though there are some great games on the iPhone.

If you're not at home more often than not you're doing something other than gaming.

I only play when I'm at the doctors office or my wife's grandmothers house.. eckkk.
