Hello all
Im new to this forum and I have a question that I have already posted on my native forum at "Club4ag.com".

I have a problem. I currently own a 1986 Corolla GTS which is a really nice RWD toyota which is famed in various motorsports, including drifting.
And I want to know if I should sell it so that I can purchase a 1977 Datsun 280z I found which seems to be in pretty good condition.

The thing is I love my Corolla, alot. But I also love S30's quite a bit and have never owned one. Please dont be biased on the decision because I do want to make a good decision after all. I know this forum is dedicated to Z cars but I just want some good options/opinions.

I just want to know what the opinions are and what I should be on the lookout for when contemplating a purchase of an datsun like this.
I want to know what problems to be aware of I guess.

Thanks all.
Below is a pic of my baby.

welcome to NICO, the S30 is a great platform for many motorsports but your as is a far better daily driver, the s30 is just generally less refined andless pleasant on the road, thats what you get wiht a 40 year old sports car, when looking at any s30 rust is the number one killer, the engines are easy to work on and parts are avaialbe, the injection system sucks but carb conversion is sinple depensing on which head you car has, take a good hard look at every parts of the car that isn't glass or rubber, it's all prone to rust and many parts are nto available so repair is expensive and difficult

Thanks for you help.
the 280 I checked has come from Texas and I scrutinized the body and found some patched up bits in the wheel wells and well as some very little fender rust. looks pretty good to me. Im going for a 2nd look and to give a drive to see how it acts on the road.
thanks again

fenders are easy, it's the rails, rockers, floors, tray etc that get tricky, a "rusty texas car" if far less rusty than a "rust free midwest car"

and coming from the 4ag that L6 torque should put a smile on your face ;)
