should i buy 240 sx?

hi guys im new to this board the reason i joined is ive been interested in getting a 240 sx for myself but of course i want to build it up in the future. right now a co worker sells me a 89 240 sx but the trouble is its automatic and has a lot of miles. that is all fine and dandy for me because i would like to change the engine anyway but i dont know if its worth it because i want to change it to a manual transmission. Thats my question wether it would be a good car to buy for 500 bucks considering i have to change the transmission to manual? thanx for any info provided sorry for any newb mistakes.

changing from auto to manual is really easy (especially is your going to swap the motor). i'd say go look at the install guide at http://www.240sx.org to see whats all involve and if you wanna do it. im about to do it to my 95 240, im going to start getting all the parts for it at the end of this week and ill get it in there in about a month... hardest part is finding all the parts... putting it in is not much harder than putting in a new clutch. id say with two people, alot of jack stands or a lift, and all the necesarry tools... you could do it in 6 hours of constant work or a whole day for you lazy ppl

you better get that car....240's are the best....and like cyrus said it is relly easy to change it from and auto to a manual....then since you said that the engine has alot of miles on it, you can save up for an sr20!! and be blowing away V8's !

Or just save up for a SR20 that will come with a manual and swap em at the same time.
