got an E with a blown headgasket and I'm swapping it for my ka24dett in may, I was thinking I should just toss a 30 dollar felpro on there and reuse the stock bolts. Its not going to see forced induction, high rpm's, or nitrous, and it only has to last another 5k or so.so I should be ok reusing the headbolts, right?

I'd probably just check them against each other, or another bolt if you have one (I think they are M10x1.5 thread pitch) to make sure the threads haven't stretched. Then put them all upright in a line and see if they are about the same length, if I couldn't see any differences I would re-use them :) OR, I could scrounge up the set of E headbolts I have laying around (brand new) and sell em' to you pretty cheap. I lost the receipt and cant take them back :( Oh, one question, could you describe the E headbolts to me? I want to make sure thats what they accidentally gave me. They have kinda a shoulder, or built in washer of sorts under the actual hex head right?

autozone price matched them for 29 dollars so I just went ahead and bought a set. No sense neglecting my engine.

Oh and if you wanna find out if the ones you have are sohc just post a pic up and I'll compare.

I removed a KA24E head before and it had a separate washer. Don't know if maybe Nissan updated the part though. Just make sure the bolt is not stretched beyond it's limits and it should be fine.

Hmmm, but does the bolt have "shoulders" (my term for it) sorry for the distraction from the thread, I'm just trying to figure out wtf engine these are for so I can get rid of em' :)

I'm not sure, but I think it did have a small 'shoulder' to it. I take it you are referring to a slight flare on the bottom of the bolt heads. The washers are wider around, maybe about an inch wide or so. It's been a while since I did it though, so maybe someone who removed a head recently might be more helpful here...

I haven't even opened my box yet, if you wait till monday I can take some pics with a digicam and post them up, of the sohc.I wouldn't worry about off topic since the original post was whether or not to buy head bolts, and I already bought some.

Awesome, thanks a lot andrave! I'd post pics of mine but Nathan REALLY needs a digicam first
