I don't believe its the head bolts.I think those are the same. But I believe its the Oil and Water passages, you have to modify them and the Headgasket.

Oh ok gotcha.I've mostly seen setups with those JGS steam pipe manifolds.

Yeah, I know it's something in the head that needs tweaking. A good port/polish of the stock RB30E head and a custom turbo mani would work just as good I'm sure. I can get custom cams ground for $300ish...so some boost and a cam would make decent power.

Then again, when you go through all the trouble of importing the motor etc, would it not be easier to use a stroked 350/383 with a carb setup to get a daily 380whp in NA form? Doesn't get any easier/cheaper then that IMO. Need more power, a cheap fogger kit is $400 for anywhere up to 500whp worth of additional go juice...lol.

You simply can't beat domestic cubes for cheap reliable power these days.

4 dollars a gallon @ 10MPG(if you keep your foot out of it..) ftl

The 4 banger turbo right now is the way to go IMO for a DD performance car. 27 MPG out of a ka-t on the highway if you work for it.

For a strip car? Iv been tossing around the idea of a jeep 4.0 inline 6 running e85 with boost, cant get to much more fun/economical than that.

How the heck do you get 27mpg on the freeway? I only get 21mpg freeway only if i'm trying real hard.

With your foot in it maybe...I've had many a V8 that doesn't get that bad of a rating. Also, it's a matter of throttle tip in and load...with that much torque on hand in a car that weighs in at 2900 lbs, you'll rarely need to accelerate hard to get moving.

There will always be an argument of some kind...but when you start quoting gas mileage as the reason you've gone to far. Else we'd be all driving a Prius...or better yet, running 87 octane and not having a turbo at all.

Oh and for the record, I can just install propane injection on my V8...more octane, more mpg and way better on any motor then conventional fuel.

No brainer, assuming you can do the swap yourself.

Was a decent thread with some awsome posts...by me...lol.

But I don't think it needed the bump. For the record...RB > KA.
