Im about to pick up a 2011 CPO QX56 next week and Ive reading about all the timing chain replacements? My daily driver is a BMW 535i and Ive been riddled with warranty repair since I bought it and I dont want to go through the same with this truck. I came back to Japanese cars for the reliability, my 99 Lexus GS300 has not had one repair done, nothing has broken other than a AC compressor for the last 15 years I expect this Nissan to be the same.

post up some links to where you have been reading all these complaints about the timing chain on the new Q. ive a 2012 and ive had a 2006 and 2008 (both brand new) and never had any issues or concerns.

the new q is made in japan so the quality and reliability is there for sure. however, as with any man made machine, there will be some lemons/issues, but they are small and rare on this model car.

people only post up on forums (just look at your post) when there is issues, not when there are good things going on, so if you do see a handful of folks with an issue, keep in mind there are hundreds or perhaps thousands of these machines on the roads in the US.

bottom line, have the car checked out with your personal mechanic since it is used as the previous owner may have dogged out the car, but there is no wide spread issues with the timing chain.

Im a tech at BMW so I dont need a mechanic and its CPO anyway but of course Ill do my own inspection. A friend of mine that works at the dealer I test drove a QX80 at said that theyve had a few QXs in for the timing chain. It is a TSB but still...

I suppose youre right though Ive seen the handful of problematic BMWs.

im a mod over at the infinitiforum site. i figured you were talking about that thread as thats really the only major active forum of this new model q across the internet.

still, thats not a lot of people, and any man made machine will have issues.

all cars have TSBs even bmw's.. ;)

the new q is born and made in japan as opposed to a line in alabama (as the armada and titan is and the old q) so the build quality is going to be better.

the new q is solid. as stated ive a 2012 all trim options AWD and have had no issues at 35K miles thus far.
