Hey do anyone know how much power a shotpeened ka24e rod will handle?

Its hard to estimate somthing like that. Lets say you have the perfect fuel mixture with no detonation. As you steadily increase the boost the hp is rising. All of this being done on a dyno.

Assume you make 400hp at the crank, then as you add 1 more psi of boost you bend/snap your first rod. Now does that mean the limit is simply 2 psi lower for around 380-385. Or was there sufficient stress to snap a rod there as well? You simply didn't run the engine at that power range long enough for the stress to take its toll on the rod.

I'd venture to say 400hp would be a safe zone for shotpeened rods. But again, thats assuming you have everything perfect.

I'd actually like to know the same thing. When I had my engine assembled I installed new forged pistons, but couldn't find an affordable set of rods to fit the stock piston pin, as in I couldn't afford to buy the Corrillo rods and have them bushed to fit the stock pin size in the piston. Well..I didn't know of another rod at the time. Anyway, I had the stock rods worked, as in checked, polished, balanced, and shot-pened..as well as ARP bolts installed. I know the pistons can handle high hp, and so can the crank, but I am curious about the rods...given the a/f ratio is dead on perfect, or a slight bit rich.

DEMCJ...I heard somewhere that the KA rods are forged also because they are so long also, is there any truth to this??

rods are forged from the factory. get em repolished and balanced then cryo treat them. should be fine. if you need more power then that, well you should be spending money on an rb silly head :p ;)
