Well, I might be able to help you out with that. With a little technique, you can take pictures with a cheap camera. You don’t like that fish eye effect, get your camera out of wide angle and go more to telephoto. Then just step back from the car to fit the whole subject in the frame. Something else that’s nice is if your camera has the option to choose the f stop, then you choose something like a f2.8 or f4 in telephoto. What happens here is you get your car in focus, and the background out of focus. This makes for some nice separation and the car pops out. That’s when the digital SLR comes in handy because you can put the camera in aperture priority mode, choose a wide open f stop, and the camera will automatically choose a faster shutter speed to compensate for the extra light in the exposure. The next thing you can do is not shooting in harsh sunlight. No camera, not even the most pro models can compensate for that. That's why you get washed out whites and black shadows. Shoot some place where the light is more even. One last tip is not to shoot all your pictures standing up strait. When I went to The Art Institute of Philadelphia, one of my classmate was a midget, and he would shoot some of the most interesting pictures because they were from perspectives that you where not use to seeing. So crouch down, or get on a ladder. Try some of these tips and you’re sure to improve your pictures 10 fold.
