I bought a aluminum driveshaft about two years ago, it works perfect for my RB20, but I am moving up to a RB25. Can my aluminum driveshaft be shortened to work with the 25?

ThanksDanny

Yes. Bring it to a driveshaft shop. They can cut whatever you want out of it.

Well, if your swapping transmissions the trans yoke from the RB20 trans will not fit on the RB25 trans.

Thanks Darius, for some reason I was doubting it could be done because it was aluminum. That clears it up for me.

Yeah I understand that. I will need a Z32 yoke, correct?

ThanksDanny

You got it man, sounds like your on the right track!

You may wanna try selling that entire driveshaft and getting another made. Not sure on cost but it will spare you getting stuck paying for another yoke you don't need (the old one).

That is an even better idea unless you can sell the yolk for the same price as the shaft modification, which is highly unlikely.

Yeah, if I needed a driveshaft I would jump on a premade aluminum one at a good price in a heartbeat. Some guys don't want to climb under the car to measure etc...

You'll probably spend a little more money to have the 20 D/S shortened/balanced and a new yoke purchased/installed than you could get the proper 25 shaft for...
