Shortage of Infiniti vehicles after Japan earthquake?

We have all see the pictures and the continual horror going on in Japan following the earthquake and resulting tsunami. Nissan has closed some of their facilities through today at least and we hope everyone in our extended family in Japan is safe or will be soon.

What is now coming to light is the resulting non-life threatening destruction that has occurred and Infiniti has taken quite a hit as one of their shipping yards, which were full of Infiniti EX's and G37's has been destroyed by the tsunami and a fire that broke out afterward. I'm not sure where they were destined but I'm sure there will be a market impact.

That is such an awful thing. Those poor people. Their lives have been turned upside down for a long time.

Memphis is on a really bad fault line. It always scares me so when there is a big one like that. In 1812 there was an earthquake here so bad that the Mississippi River flowed backwards and formed Reelfoot Lake.

I'm a firm believer that something castastrophic is going to happen 12/21/12. I don't worry about it too much. Nothing I can do about it.

Yeah, New Madrid fault line is overdue. So is the super volcano under Yellowstone.

wow...that is nuts. I'm glad no Nissan employees were hurt, but that is a sad site. On the plus side, this could make the residue value increase....but my Nissan stock will drop like a rock.

If insurance covers the loss, the stock could stay high and just make the cars more rare. Although they aren't really ever going to be rare, just too many of them.

I would think the cars that didn't get ruined there or elsewhere would be a low-ship priority to the community so we may not be getting any vehicles shipped for a bit. Food, etc. would be a higher priority as would housing. I'm sure there are major issues with the ports as well.

definitely. Truly a catastrophic event...brings me to tears to think of the lives lost.

But they will get through it with honor and dignity.

Yes they will. I wish some of our own would have such honor and dignity.
