Short trip......mpg

just drove to Ogden Utah from Sacramento Ca.Spent 4 days driving around ogden.

Round trip mpg was 24.8 for 1252 miles.I run a 255/45/18 instead of 245s. The slightly larger diameter helps w/ the better mileage. As a note, I run a garmin nuvi gps and I used those mile against actual gallons bought. since the tires are a little larger than factory, I know the Q's information display is off.

Also, ended up driving on my Kohmo asx tires that had about 37K miles on them. I had gotten my new one's in and had planned to have them put on the day before I left but did'nt have time. Thank gosh it didn't rain in Utah!!!! the threads were thin!!!

Not necessarioly at constant speed. Definitiely in urban driving if rotational mass is greater as it has to be accelerated from a dead stop each time.

THere was a post some where about the 'disadvantages' of larger tires.And yes a much larger tire will reduce mpg with a lot of city driving. I am running stock rim w/ a slightly larger tire.But this is barely 3% larger and on the freeway, it really helps on the mpg side of things.Afterall, with a car that already starts in second gear, if I REALLY want to get rolling I'd jst shift to 1 on the slap shift.
