I've spoken with two companies. B&M and TWM regarding a product for the 07+ Sedan and Coupe.

B&M straight out told me "No way". They'll take a look at the potential popularity of it in a year or so but they don't see it worth making a product right now.

TWM will be producing a product for us. They don't have an ETA, but they do plan on it. Also no word on whether it will be a short shift kit that replaces the shifter or if it will be their popular transmission mounted shift adapter. The 6 speed with lockout is the issue regarding which method would work.

Anyway, thought I'd share with you all

what's the advantages of short throw shifters? Isn't it more abrupt when shifting, thus ultimately less desirable?

It doesn't have anything to do with being abrupt really. Short throw shifters help reduce the longer throw of the factory shifter. They make for a more close and precise shift for quicker gear changes.

Good news! I'd really like to sorten the throw gate and get more of a Z type throw. I installed a Hurst Billet Short Throw on my buddies C5 (massive throws on vetts before C6) and it was great it tightend up everything and I'd say his throw was at least 1/3 shorter.

Hey guys, I don't have my A/C yet, but hopefully I will get it this week... My last car was a Mazda6 and I had done alot of modifications>>>

(JL Audio 500W amp, 2x12" w3v2 subs, Eibach Pro-Kit springs, 18" RX-8 sport rims, 18" Toyo Proxes4 tires, AEM Cold-Air Intake, Apexcone 4500k 50 watt HIDs, Hoen Color Matched fog bulbs, led DRLs, leds interior lights, Bel Pro RX-65 detector hardwired, ScanGaugeII, Lowrance GPS unit, TWM Short-Throw Shifter, TWM weighted shift knob, Magnaflow custom Cat-Back system, Kartboy Hangers, removed door side guards, JDM Grille, JDM Eyelids, black side-marker lights with LEDs, chrome turn signals in headlights and taillights, stubby antenna, Tint (20% on sides, 15% on rear and windshield stripe), Floorboard LEDs (front and rear)(color morph)/trunk (green pulse), Metra Turbo2 dash kit with Pioneer Premier DEH-P860MP)

So most of this stuff was installed my me including the short-throw shifter. If TWM is in the process of making a shifter for us and it is anything like the throw my last car, I would definately take that into consideration on automatic vs. manual.

UPDATE.

I contacted TWM and they said although they have not started the project (and they don't have an ETA), they informed me that a short throw kit WILL be made, and most likely wont eliminate the reverse lock-out.

Faster gear shifting. I had a short-throw on my SE-R and it was great. I belive mine was shortened by 35% and it made a world of a difference in everyday driving, and at the track. That's cool to hear that some will be coming out for the Altima's.

hi guys,

i've built short throw shifters for the 2002-2006+ Sentra,Sentra Spec V, Altima, Altima SER, and Maxima. I will be building an STS soon for the 2007+ and will keep you updated. If any one is located in So-Cal and would like to be fitted for a free prototype, let me know.

I already worked w/ Axxion last yr trying to come up w/ a short throw with him but the way altima 6MT (at least sedans, I'd assume it's the same system for AC) shifter cable is set up, he couldnt come up with a way to construct one; he said wait for Nismos or any other companies for that matter.

If this isn't old news, TWM listed the 07+ Altima 6 Speed Manual in their wanted list. Someone near Napierville, Quebec should e-mail them.
