Hey guys, yes I searched...been here long enough to know that.

Is there any interchagability between S13/S14 shifters and RB20DET shifters. I would like to get a new short shifter, like a B&M, can't get those here that I know of, but not sure if they make one for the RB yet. Any feedback?

The common parts thread will answer your question , if not, the SR, CA, KA, And RB20 all use the same shift lever, So any kit that works for it works for each and vice versa.

Search again for "shifter" in topic titles. You'll find that Kansei240sx is wrong, especially with the B&M.

Damn...201 threads about short shifters and nothing for the listed for the RB20.

I don't mind using the search button, but damn, 200 threads is a lot to go for. Does B&M make a kit for the RB20 or do I have to chuck out over $200 for a C's?

in a nut shell, grab a b&m drill a hole, fill a hole and install a sr/ka/ca striker arm in the rb trans and tadah b&m shifter on a rb20.

Nice synopsis.

There's this sticky that says, "Read here first, RB info." You didn't read here first, did you LaurelRacer? Naughty, naughty. !@#$ searching, just read the stickies.

Yeah, that's all peachy and yes I did read that stickie a while ago, but1. I don't have the option to have all the nice tools to do the driling and grinding of some of those pieces, 2. Don't have all that time that would needed to do all that.

I was just wondering if the SR/RB had interchanging parts. Since I know it doesn't, I guess I am going to have to spring for a C's shifter. I wanted the B&M cause a friend of mine in the states has one in his S13 and it is by far the best shifter I have ever seen in the S chassis. Tight, no slop, and overall SOLID.

My friend used his KA shift lever and dropped right into his RB20 transmission, so... thats my experiance with that as far as it goes, but i do know that b&m's kit works with modifcation, hint use of the word "Works"

well man i did mine up with simple hand tools and what not, so if you have access to any kind of tools then its not terribly hard.if you want i could possibly do up a shifter for you here so all you have to do is unbolt the plate and put a new striker arm in?

I'm thinking that if he thinks drilling ONE hole and grinding off a small sliver of aluminum is difficult, he definitely won't be able to remove that striker arm.

Btw, Carl, I don't drive my car much... how is your B&M holding up? Any problems so far?

suprizingly the shifter is holding up very well and doesnt make any of that god awful rattling/buzzing that it did on the ka trans.course last thing im worried about is the shifter, im more worried about seeing a piston flying thru my hood, or me trashing a trans because of powah .

Damn dude, don't make me out to be an idiot. I never said it was difficult.

I said...

Not having the right tools is detriment to doing a quality job. I don't want to be half arsed in this as this is my daily car. Only having a socket set, some wrenches and a hammer isn't what I would call a good start. Yes I know were I can get a drill, but still...

And do you know how hard it is going to be to find a KA striker arm in Japan?

Carl...thanks for clearing that up...now I feel like a heal about that remark...lol

Anyway, thanks for the offer on the B&M shifter. Once I get the money saved back up after just having bought some used tires and wheels, I will give you a shout.
