Well, I broke the plastic bushing at the bottom of my RB25 shifter and KA and SR replacement parts don't match up. I cannot track down the piece, so I'm going to buy a short shifter, which brand is good for the money? I'm leaning towards a nismo shifter if i can track one down to buy. Are RB20 and RB25 short shifters the same?

Nismo - I think RB Motoring has them in stock.C's - ebay, I got mine for $189 Tomei - ebay, have seen them go for $150 used

Many people say C's the best. I will post about my short shifter once I get it running...

I'm using an OBX, works fine for me. Using a combination of stock parts and the obx parts I got it to work. I used some of the stock bushings, I think I used the stock lower bushing. but the stock ka bushing should work

no. if its for the 25, the ka bushing is too small. it will be way sloppy. you might be able to put the bushing from your 25's shifter on the end of the ka's, but if you have the b&m type, where it uses a different plate that actually screws on to the transmission, its a little different, and they wont line up.

Uniqueautosports.com has a short shifter for close to 100 US, but its in aus.

why would the short shifter kits for an RB25 come with a lower bushing for a KA? I'm asking if I buy a shifter kit for an RB25, will it come with the lower bushing i need? Sorry about any confusion.

Hey, I can get you short shifter kit right here from Japan that will fit the RB25 and ship it to you at cost. I have seen C's shifters go for around 175-200 US brand new. Let me know and I will see what I can do for ya. I have an RB20, and thinking on buying a short shifter anyway, so if I am in the area, I can look for you.

I think the problem is people, including myself, have bought the shifter for the RB20 and the KA, and found that indeed the white plastic bottom bush is to small for the RB25/26.

As far as I can tell, that is the only difference. I just poped the one off my 26 oem shifter, and tinkered with it and made it fit/work on the shifter I bought that was the wrong one.... no biggie

I bought a Pilot shifter from some guy who had an aerosol can nozzle fitted instead of the real bushing. I did not use it, but it did look very similar to the real thing. And of course you can get those nozzles in just about any size.... just go buy some hair spray or tire cleaner or anything else that has the big nozzles.

FWIW, the C's shifter looks identical to the Pilot/Megan/OBX shifter kit, so there is no way I would pay more than $50 for that thing. I got mine for $40 used, but I have seen them for sale for $60-80 before.

If someone makes a B&M style shifter for the RB's, then that would be the way to go... it replaces the whole shifter cover on the transmission instead of using that lousy adapter that you see on the C's/Pilot/Megan/OBX stuff.
