This might be a stupid question and I searched all the short shifter threads but, does the B&M short shifter make the actual shaft height shorter? I know it shortens the shifter throw but what about height? I just bought a new leather shift boot and a Nismo knob and now I'm in the market for a short shifter.

Yes, it's stock height,

The part of the shifter under the pivot point is longer, thus making the lever length different and the throws shorter. That's why they sell the base with it, so it will fit. So actually, the shaft might be shorter, but it still ends up at the same height as the stock one.

Will my stock shifter knob fit on the BM SS? I head it doesn't fit, and I like my stock shifter knob... :-(

I thought that my b&m sat a little lower--maybe it's just because my b&m shift knob is a ball, and the stock shift knob was like a 4" heavy POS.

I have a leather shift boot too--it looks mint :)

THe first time you take your car out with it, you'll be amazed....night and day between the stock shifter/b&m

I think you're gonna be spending 200 or a little more no matter where you shop unless you find a used one...

I thought about doing B & M but I want something that's a bit more civilized on the street and not making alot of racket so I'm going with the C Shifter

What makes you think its loud?

I have the newer model and its not loud at all.

Believe me, Ive tried the stock, obx, Cs, and B&M.

The B&M is the best of them all.

Must be the older B & M then cause they use to have a noise to them when driving around town.

sorry to bring up a somewhat old thread but I just wanted to let anyone who wants to know. The stock shifter is about an inch taller in height than the B&M. I installed a B&M on my s13 yesterday and I held them up to each other to compare height. Also, the B&M rules!! It's like driving a new car. Night and day difference from stock. Sooo crisp and prescise. Woot!!

Oh, I just bought my B&M from Enjuki for only $209 "buy it now" via an ebay auction they had. You might want to check ebay. Enjuki has been selling stuff on there for cheaper then they sell on their site. Could save you $35 buckaronis.
