I've just attempted to install a "Nismo" short throw shifter in my 240, and had the most disturbing experience. I've searched for an answer and, finding none, decided to post. After installing the shifter and getting everything buttoned back up, I took the car for a drive. While the throws are greatly reduced, the car will not stay in gear! Has anyone had this experience?

i tried to help a friend one time and put his on for him, it was late and he decided to go to sleep and i wanted to work on his new 40. long story short the shifter won that battle, after a few days i think we figured it out. put the base on with the bigger side up and the half moon pieces fit in the grooves its really hard so be prepared

I got the half-moon pieces in the grooves and tightened everything down (when I frist tried to install). At first, I could barely move the shifter. I then loosened the 4 bolts holding the half moon pieces in place untill the plate could spin silghtly and then tightened them till it just stopped moving. Nothing helped! It feels as though the shifter is not fully engaging the gear. When I put the stock shifter back in, everything was normal. The only issue I noticed as far as the install went is that the plastic bushing on the end of the shifter (that inserts into the trans) was a VERY tight fit. Other than that, I'm not sure what I could have done wrong (other than try to install a cheap *** short shifter).

I'm thinking (after reading and re-reading the instructions) that I may have done two things wrong. I assembled the half-moon plates with the nuts facing the main plate, and I'm pretty certain I didn't have the assembly tight enough. I'll try this one more time (with some Syl-Glide on the shifter washer?) and see what happens. Thanks!
