Short shifter anybody?

Hey everybody,

I know this has come up already but it has been some time since the last thread was posted on a short shifter. Has anybody come up with a replacement? I would really like to install one and get the best transition between gears.

I wonder if a short shifter will make shifting more jerky. You already have to do the 2 sec drop in order to get a smooth shift.

I am not exactly sure what you mean? The 2 second drop with the stock shifter?

that slow rpm drop is annoying but slowly getting the hang of shifting smoothly. The most diffilcult is 1st to 2nd gear, i always get a jerk.

Ahh I was thinkin you were talking about that. Ya I really don't like the slow drop? So your saying that when I get a short shifter, it still wont do THAT much?

Yea I was talking about the few secs you have to wait for the RPMs to drop to get a smooth shift. The slow drop is controlled by the cars computer. If you were to add a short shifter you decrease you throw time, but you'll still have to wait for the RPMs to drop. If you don't, you'll still get the jerk and maybe worse.

I thought he was refering to the slight pause for the gear dogs to mesh, allowing the sifter to slide smoothly into the next gear.

I don't think a short shifter would make much difference. This is definitely much more of an economy car than a sports car.
