2 things. One, im new to the site/ tuner world. Coming from a muscle to a maxima and its different forsure. Anyway i have a short ram on my maxima and i was wondering wouldwould it be ok to just extend the tubing on the short ram to the lower front bumper so it can recieve outside air. Instead of purchasing a whole new cai will this be ok and basiclly the same thing? Good or bad. Just to be clear. I just want to add tubing to my short ram to extend it down into the lower frnt bumper. Thanks guys again im new to this. :gotme

Its ok to just extend the piping, just be careful if your area floods.

It MAY improve your performance during the winter months by a BCH, in reality a stock intake is the best intake to have unless you have other mods warranting a larger charge volume.

I know my Titan's stock intake is so restrictive that when I went to a CAI, it made a world of difference. You may or may not see a difference, but it could help, slightly.

Here in Texas, road temps can get above 130, so it is pointless, especially when you get stuck in traffic...

Ok, it just seems like my ram air doesn't get much air flow where its located and thought maybe if i put it in a more open Area where air would be on it directly it would help. But ill try and see what happens and let y'all know i appreciate the help!

putting it outside is definitely a better setup, but you'd have to be careful of puddles and rain. As far as gains, it will sound pretty nice and the butt dyno might feel something.

But you won't see or feel any real gains until you couple it with a bigger exhaust. I say get the exhaust first, then spend the chump change on an air intake extension if you still feel like it's getting too much hot air.

CAI on stock cars just improve that throaty sound of the car. An performance gains, if any, will be negligible.

Ok, and yea thats whats on my todo lisy next but see i come from muscle cars all my life so all this side of things is crazy confuzing. Iv been trying to figure out what exhaust to get and if i can take it somewhere to get a exhaust installed but on muscle cars just straight up take to a muffler shop and they put on a custom duals and thpayats that. But with research,so far it seems confusong more in debth than simply take it to a shop and pay 200$ for exhaust. If someone could break it down for me like piwce by piece and such like whats the way to go and such thatd be great. Like when you get an exhaust how many pieces so im not missing anything if i get a kit or whatever... excetra
