I decided that the sony tape player installed by the previous owner has got to go so I went to fry's and got the correct harness.

I removed the sony deck and ****, the original harness was cut and eletrical-taped to the sony harness. I decided to cut the sony harness and match the existing sony harness color to my new headunit's harness (alpine 9813). I've done this many time but first time with a cut harness. When I try to turn it on the display blinks and then turn off... on then off.... on then off.... samething with the antenna, goes up then back down... up and back down so I automatically assume there is a short.

I cut everything again exist for the black, yellow, and red (ground, battery, ignition) only but the problem persist....

the sony tape player was working fine so I know the sony harness was correct. My alpine deck was working fine too but something went wrong for my s13!

1) what do you guys suggest now? 2) what is the voltage for the ignition/battery of the headunit input?

this is ****ed uppppppppppp

after lots of time with the multimeter, let's just say that the ground he used isn't really ground, and when I turn the ignition the power went from 12v to -12v.

Good things my friend helped and fixed it so now it works great fine with the new radio :)
