i'm looking into maybe doing a auto to manual swap on my s13 and was wondering if any of you guys knew of any places in the san fransisco bay area that do them for a resonable price?

check the yards for the parts listed in 240sx.org and do the wiring yourself. 6 wires need to be cut, you'll end up with 3 sets of crossed wires and a 5 speed. Just did my wiring today. I'll post pics and a how to when I go to take pics.

do you have a jack, jack stands, 17mm socket, some extensions, a 12 point socket for 14mm, a drill with drill bits, and about a day? If so you can do the swap yourself. Just use some common sense when doing it. Also helps to have a friend when doing the transmission install.

wow, it's really not that hard?....i'd love to do it myself but the hardest thing i've done to my car so far has been installing a new dash...also where would i got about getting a tranmission?...pick and pull has some s13's but how would i know if the transmission was any good? and would it be as reliable as it is now?

thanks again for the help guys...i dont know where else i would have such freindly people so eager to help out

You might try Strictly Z in San Jose they do some work on the Silvia. Contact Kyle at 1-408-451-9401 they just moved the shop to 1585 North Fourth Street, Suite M in San Jose.I live in Arkansas and they have been very helpful to me. All the parts for my 300 vert have come from them and they just started a Silvia Performance section on line. We've talked about doing stuff to my 95' 240sx so apparently he has access to 240 parts.

I did the swap myself, didn't cost much for the parts. You should be able to find the list of parts you need from 240sx.org and get the parts from local yards. There are quite a few off berryessa in SJ in the yards that haven't been there for more than two weeks, a couple more in Union City/Fremont area. It'll be a good experience, and if you need help and in the SF area, I can give you a helping hand. The wiring, I've posted up how to do it in the online mechanic section since I saw alot of guys posting about how to wire it up.
