Well I closed the last of my accounts at Bank of America. Why did I close it? Well, because they're ROBBING JERK OFFS IS WHY!!!

Yeah, I occasionally caught amounts of $20-30 missing every so often. And everytime I'd have to go wait in line for a teller so they can add back the amount that all of a sudden disappeared.

So now I'm in the market for a new bank. Not sure which one to chose besides the big four, scratch BOFA of course. I'm looking for one that has overseas branches and good account packages. Any suggestions?

On a side note, can banks know if you have contraband in your safe deposit box?

edit: I'm just opening a checking account is all.

If you're interested in opening an ING Direct account let me know. You can open it with $1, and they'll give you $25 just to do so. I get $10 for the referral. Yours to keep after 30 days, no strings, no fees/penalties, no minimums, etc. The only catch is that the verification process requires you to have an existing checking account...they put in 2 small deposits and you tell them what the values are so they know it's really you. They're paying 2.25%. Not much, but better than most places. FDIC insured of course.http://www.ingdirect.com

BAH to your edit!

If anyone wants a place to park their cash at 2.25% email me. The nice thing is everything is electronic, so you can move money between your ING and your checking accounts with just a couple clicks.

I haven't had a BOA account in many years, but I remember the only discrepancy I ever saw was when $20 magically appeared in my account one month, deposited at a branch I had never been to. At least maybe it's a zero sum game. They're not stealing your money for themselves, just giving it to other members! LOL

I'm gonna open mine tomorrow. (later on today) Ya know what would be really cool? If you sent 5 of the $10 I'm about to get you back to my paypal acount... Buddy. Lol, I should be the one thinking up these pyramid schemes. Anyways, it's yours to do with what you want... enjoy.

All I can say is stay away from Wells Fargo. They're really pissing me off lately. I read a study a few years ago that I thought was BS, but they've been doing exactly what the study said to me: They hold your check and check card transactions and cash them in an order that causes you to overdraw your account. They'll hold a big one, and wait until you have less than it's amount left, then they'll put it through. They've pulled it on my twice in two months...I'm considering changing banks. Actually I'm probably going to go with a credit union.I think probably all banks pull crap like this...but I've only had experience with Wells Fargo. When I went in to yell at them and get the overdraft fees removed, they just kept changing the subject, and saying that I needed to set up overdraft protection. I got the fees removed, but the woman made a big deal about how "I'm not really supposed to do this...you didn't set up your account at this branch...but I'll be nice and help you out." No, I didn't set up my account there...but I moved. I don't live near the one where I set up my account...stupid bank. I had them transfer my stuff, and change my address, so why do I still have to drive for fifteen minutes to get to my old branch?

Banks piss me off. Go with a credit union. You'll earn more interest anyhow.

Bank of America is pure F$@#%#$% evil.

I had a campaign account and a business account and a personal account with them. I triple-checked to make sure I had the right check cards for the right account. I found out eventually that the card for Gulati 2000 was withdrawing funds from Infinital Technologies, and vice versa. This resulted in a massive paperwork nightmare and a LOT of problems with the Public Disclosure Commission with whom I had to file my campaign records.

Bank of America of course blamed me. The PDc accused me of using business funds on the campaign without documenting the activity.

Not that I know of...whyyyyy?

LOL That just reminded me...I used to have a Citibank checking account once. I opened it just to get the free Palm Pilots they were giving away as an incentive. When I closed it the guy gave me an extra $5 more than what was in the account. Wish these kinds of things happened more often!

I hate Wells Fargo period!

Go with a Credit Union, that's the bank I have and they're great. It's also easier to get a loan thru them.

they cant unless there is a court warent. Im a teller at PNC bank. thats prity ****ed up about the money magically leaving your account.

Quote »They hold your check and check card transactions and cash them in an order that causes you to overdraw your account. They'll hold a big one, and wait until you have less than it's amount left, then they'll put it through.[/quote]thats why your supposed to keep a bank register so you know how much is in your account even if the checks havent cleared. but they shouldn't be holding them for just that reason.

there are so many people that i deal with that blame the bank for their negative balences. if they would just keep a record of their transactions, they wouldnt have a problem.

and on a side not while im venting, what the hell is wrong with people. why is it so hard to show your ID when cashing a check or withdrawing money. would people rather us give the money from their accounts to just anyone that walks in. i could be really rich if they would let me do that.

sorry just had to say that...just got back from work

Yeah...I KNOW. I am VERY responsible with my money. And I actually DO keep a register. But when my rent check from THREE MONTHS AGO goes through and I have only $200 dollars left, that's sort of screwed up.

I realize that most of the time it's the customer's fault. But I've been seeing some really messed up stuff happen. I've got a coworker who used to work for Wells Fargo, and he even admits that that's how they did things when he was there. I don't even care that I overdrew...that's fine, it's partly my fault. But the fact that they can finalize transactions (I don't know what the real term is) in any order and at any time they please sort of pisses me off.

I have our personal account at a credit union. Best deal in town IMO.

Our business accounts are with Compass Bank, and so far, I've been quite pleased with them.

Bank of America IS Satan. I had an account there before and got screwed every which way but sideways. AmSouth is the same way for anyone in the southeast area. My personal pick is BB&T which I have an account with now or a credit union. Wachovia is a good bank along with Suntrust if you have those in your area.

I hate Wells Fargo. The only reason I'm still with them is because I'm lazy, and I can find one of thier ATMs anywhere.

I'm screwing Bank of America right now. I got a 0% inrtoductory APR on balance tranfers and purchases that has already run out, but they still haven't charged me any interest. f*** em! The first finance charge I get I'm paying the balance off in full.

Alot of people I know have had very good experiences with credit unions. I'm going to join a local one soon so I can get a good rate on a loan to buy a WRX (or possibly an STI).

thx guys for all your input, I really do appreciate it. Oh and thanks for answering my question ForsakenTH, nice to know we have a bank teller on board on NICO . I was just wondering because my friend kept nagging me for the answer.

Opened the checking account with Citibank today, really nice enviroment. And Kristen [the person who helped me] was very helpful, her a** was nice to look at while she kept getting up and opening the cabinet behind her for my papers
