Welcome to Nico!Well the 350z hasn't been around long enough to really have problems, most of them out there are still packing warranty, the newer z's engine have been revised a bit but the rule has been around 400 whp before things go boom, rods and pistons are the first fatalities and the block becomes the weaklink somehwere around 600whp, fortunately the aftermarket has solved this problem wtih beefy sleaved blocks, you can even build a 4.2 stroker
as for the transmission, I don't think they are a problem unless you get an auto and where's the fun in that?
of the cars listted the z is the only true sports car, the rx8 with the extra seeting and halfdoors I would more closely compare to the g35 or even a mustang
the problem I have with the rx8 is the rotary, there are 4 kinds of ratary owners: the ones who can build rotay's, the ones who know people who build roatry's, the people who pay to have their rotary's worked on and those with no running rotary's! but they have an insanely loyal fanbase but most of the hardcore guys will admit they take a special person to won and maintain them, also plan on adding lots of oil!
the miata however will last forever, this I think is why mazda won't put the rotary in it
as for the sti, well I guess evo is the natural counterpart but mitsu and subie, aren't exactly known for long life performance, subies eat trannies and dsm guys's can accept the fact their cars require constant repairs and maintenance
they all have a followig but I'd bet on a Z outlasting either of those cars in the long run, and while they are all very performance oriented cars, the Z is the only true sports car, the engish invented the sports car and it had 2 seats and 2 doors, any more than that and it's just another car
these are of course my own opionons and no animals were harrmed in the making of this post
