Ok, a couple questions.

1. Is it possible to just walk up to an Infiniti dealer and find out if a car has had the chain guides done?

2. If so, and it had been done, would a 90 base with 88k on it, white with blue/grey interior be worth 3995 at a used car dealer? It's on special. If not done, how much? The car looks to be in really nice shape. All the photos look great. I know that I would need to do the TCU, but I figure the box should be in decent shape at only about 90k. The car is 150 miles away, so I haven't driven it yet, and the nearest Infiniti dealer is 40 minutes away from the cars location. Doubt they'd let me take of with it for that long to get it properly inspected. Probably not even worth asking, but does anyone know of a good shop closer to Lynnwood?

Thanks!

I would call hte place, get the VIN number and see about getting the service records.. but yes, you should be able to do that..... Wether they have them on file or not is iffy... I called with my old Q and they didnt have them in the database, and they said you have to call the dealer where it was serviced... Sometimes, though, if the records are kept active (IE dealer service) it will all be there.....

Im skeptical buying from a used car dealer... $4000 seems a little high, but that is a rare color interior and certainly very low miles... I would NOT count on the guides being done..... You certainly dont have to replace the TCU right off the bat.... Many members retain the 2nd gear start, the main thing you want to do is add the transmission cooler...

Go onto Q45.org and take a look at the list I made up of things to look at... if you dont have an infiniti dealer nearby (im becoming skeptical of theyre ability to even effectively diagnose stuff), we will make you a list of thigns to look for...

Do you have a VOM (multimeter), and have you done minor to moderate work on cars before?

I was starting to type a reply but got lazy and figured Wes would get this one as he did.

An additonal Note, IF the car is in good shape a 90 with thgat color combo is pretty cool IMO, but keep in mind not cheap top keep up ( even though Nico helps make it cheaper)

Also, as you may know the 90's are the fastest Q45's.

Also you might wanna check carfax for odometer issues, that <is> a low mile number so its worth making sure..

Yes. Its common for the Q odometer to work intermittantly.. So for every 5 miles or so it may only click on one.....

LEt us know what you can find out and I'll type up a list of crap to look for.....

Like Fred said, it is a nice and rare color combination... Im not a real big fan of blue interiors, but to each their own.....

I wouldnt go that far.I was more thinking of guarding against intentional rollback.

ARTT, I could walk the lot for you, but I couldn't tell you much other than it is there. Infiniti of Kirkland is probably less than 40 miles round trip. If the lot won't let you get it inspected, no reason t consider it.

If you get the VIN, maybe I can get someone to pull the history, only if you are serious.

Well I can tell you from experience that when you go to the dealer with the VIN number they usually will say we dont have record for that old of a car. I would love to pull my records to see if any dealer work was ever done.

Hey max if I give you my vin could you pull that up? I missed out on that guy who had the carfax hook up.

I love my 90 it has alot of power and is so comfortable and roomy. It doesnt have the wood trim or some of the second gen stuff, but it has its own feel. If I want the trim it isnt that hard to get anyway.

PITO... IF you call infiniti corp (number listed by nick and Z many times) they can access the database for you... Joe can as well...

Yeah, if you are the actual registered owner with Infiniti, there is no trouble (unless archived) pulling the cars dealer service history.

I am going to be calling them when they open on Monday morning, and if they want to play ball I am hoping to have the car by Tuesday. I work graveyard so I have a bit of flexibility during the day.

I am definitely serious about the car if it has been fixed. I will own it if it is done. I have the cash, I just need to get the info on it and get up there. The wife finds the looks acceptable- ie get some new rims and she will tolerate it. She very much prefered the black cars I had looked at, but the owners refused to accept good offers like full book value

I have a bit of experience wrenching on cars, my Miata has a sweet suspension set up, turbo, brakes, computer, stereo, roll bar and a whole pile of other junk, most all put in mostly by me. I like playing with cars if they are my own.

Say, anybody looking for a good buy on a turboed 94 Miata???? Got to go away when the kid comes

Honestly I would wait and see if a good NICO Q comes along..... Do you like the 94s too?

94-95s are actually my first choice, they seemed the most balanced to me. The cars that I have made offers on thus far have been 94-95s, and no one seems to want to sell. So they sit in the paper and on auto trader for months, and then the owners probably get desperate and sell for what I offered them, or just give up.

There have been a couple of NICO cars that have looked great, but I don't really have the resources at the moment ie time to get to the east coast or the like. I remember a nice California car a while back, but it sold before I even noticed it.

When selling a 94 Miata post it on our Nico cars FS forum and also on Louisvillestreets.com a Miata heavy local site.

The Miata is actually my daily driver, so I can't sell it yet. It was listed in jest;-)

I will probably list it in the FS forum too just for giggles though once it is officially for sale....
