A Z shop I took mine to had to put her up on jacks and I think what caused it was using a floor jack further back on that rail the jack stands support.

Will this cause stability/structural issues? Could I just...hammer it back into shape?

It's not so bad and won't cause any major problems. That being said, that shop should pay for repairs; it's a bushleague mistake.

Umm, that's your frame rail. I'd go rip em a new one personally. I don't think it's real real bad since our cars are unibody cars and don't have a actual "frame" that's separate from the body, The frame is a part of the body. If it wasn't a unibody car I would say that basically totals the car. I wouldn't touch it myself before going and having a serious discussion with them on their competency.

Yea that isn't a factory jacking point and is certainly a mistake but it is only cosmetic damage.

You should talk to the shop and see if they are willing to work with you because if they actually knew what they were doing they would have jacked it up on the subframes.

Good luck!

Shop said they'd spot weld and pull it out. Dunno a thing about body work so we'll see how it goes.

Ugh, gonna necro this thread.

So the damage was off onto the edge of the unibody rail. He attempted to hammer is back into place but the metal is right at the reinforced point, that didnt have any effect. Welding a slide hammer onto there wasnt an option because its the edge that got pushed up.

Saw some other Zs with chewed up unibody rails. Although it may be "only cosmetic" is there any way to actually pull the edge of the rail back into place, or will it be forever marred?

There might be a way to pull it out. It really just depends on how and where it is bent.
