I know I am a bit late. We went shooting last Saturday and the weather was great. I have fallen in with a group of guys that collect WWI and WWII error rifles. We shot Gewehr 43, Mauser 98, M1 Garand and M1910 Mosin-Nagant.

The 43 He also had a Sturmgewehr 44.

My target after shooting the M1 for the first time. I know I can do better, but I didn't want to mess around with Chris's sites since it wasn't my rifle.

It is a 7.92x57mm round. Steve has two of them and they are expensive as you know what. These guys go to estate sales and gun shows and find these incredible deals. They are crazy.

The 43 is a nice rifle. I guess referred to as Hitler's Garand. After shooting the M1 and the 43 I would say I like the 43 better.

yeah, they're fine fine rifles.

I can't remember what the action is based on...might be borrowed from the Soviet Tokarev rifles...I should've gotten the one I found in a pawn shop (not the 43, I wish).

It's a good thing that rifle came later in the war.
