Hey there guys, I'm posting out of frustration, my KA-T swap could not be going worse right now. So far, I have disconnected the stock manifold, but I cannot work it past the steering column (and I can't break the bolts loose to take it apart). As for my nice fuel injectors, 4 out of the 8 screws will not come out, as they won't move, and the heads are stripping. The only good thing I've managed to get working right is that I drained the oil, and took off the pan. This sucks, what do I do.

Try using this stuff called easy grip, it's a real gritty substance that you squirt into the head of the screw. Or try vice grips, in the end you may have to drill the heads off.

Use eithe PB or WD-40 on all the ex mani hardware, let it soak for a day and all the hardware should come loose. I know it's frustrating man, stay with it. The end result will be worth it. I'm getting my *** kicked to and I've been doing this for years, not to mention being a helicopter mechanic in the USAF for the last 12 years.

LMAO I just read that post from WD too.

I got so mad at the Greddy Mani when trying to take it off I could have beat something to death.

But I'm 3/8's German so I kept my composure.... Who my kidding... The Irish in me kicked in and I got a 2lb hammer and tried to break the stud off... (Apparently they bend)

PB saved me... and the mani.

Aint nothing wrong with venting your anger towards unwanted parts you have hanging around the garage.

If you went to the field accross the street from my house in Japan, you'd find a whole tool box full of tools I had thrown out of my garage in fits of rage.

when you say you are only able to get 4 of 8 screws out of the fuel rail. you are talking about the injector covers? if you managed to get 1 screw out of each cover, you can push the covers to the side, and slowly move them back and forth and it will loosten the screws up.

I know exactly how you feel. I had both problems.

For injectors: Use plenty of wd-40, and some vice grips. I tried to use a screwdriver, and I ended up destroying the heads of the screws. The vice grips are the answer.

For the exhaust: I had a lot of trouble too. I ended up biting the curb and breaking those manifold-downpipe bolts loose(or breaking the bolts). Just use a really big breaker bar and wd-40. It took me about a full day to take off my whole exhaust. Half of that time was spent cutting that egr pipe. I'm surprised you didn't seem to have trouble with it.

Good luck.

Nobody uses an impact driver?

You can put a screw driver bit on the end, hit it with a hammer and it turns a small amount, but applies a good amount of torque. Hitting it with the hammer also drives the bit deeper into the screw head. If a screw is being a real pain in the ***, and I'm starting to strip the head, I switch to the impact driver before I completly strip it out. Of course, you cant use it on anything you might break from the impact.

PB Blaster is great stuff too. They work really well together.

I use the impact driver at work alot, but doubt it would work so well on a fuel rail. Kinda flimsy to be smashing with a hammer.

Yeah, I see your point. Thinking about the injector covers, I think I could get away with it; I'm able to use it with a quick sharp smack of the hammer.

Ok, Got the Screws out on the Fuel Rail, Marvel Mystery Oil and Vice grips works wonders. The mani I broke free with an impact socket and 200PSI ! Talk about Rust Cloud. As you might have noticed I posted about where to tap for water lines, and where to buy engine mounts, so please feel free to post on that. Thanks for the help.
