Shocks and struts, recommendations

Hi all,

I am getting ready to replace the shocks and struts on (Kilipo's) my car.

Any recomendations would be helpful. One mechanic recommends Monroe and will do all four for $500. Another mentioned a japanese brand that is a gas strut. His price is $387 just for the front.

I appreciate your input regarding brands and what is reasonable. I was also thinking of buying the parts on line and then have them installed.

I also need to replace the speedomoter as the needle bounces all over the place. Any recommendations on that?
