I'm planning on upgrading the suspension for my s13 over the next few months. This is going to be a daily driver, so I'm looking for the best combination between install time/difficulty, comfort, durability, and performance. I'd originally thought about Koni yellows (for the durability and rebuildability), but the high price and difficult install turned me off. I'm considering te usual alternatives of KYB AGX or Tokico HP. I'm wondering:

- Are the Koni's worth it? Are they really THAT hard to install? What tools are required?

- Are the AGX's and the Tokico's that different?

- Which are the most comfortable? Best performing? Most durable?

If anyone has had any experience at all with these shocks, please just post how you liked 'em and how long they lasted. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm running an Eibach Sportline/AGX combo.....I daily drive about 90% of the time so this has been the most comfy yet relatively stiff combo I've had so far.

Koni's are better than AGX's for sure IMO, but I wouldn't get them for the 240. I actually orded a set and returned them. The reason is b/c the rears are only adjustable by removing the strut. Waaay too much work for me to just adjust dampening. The fronts are externally adjustable though, FYI.

To me, AGX's are better than the Tokico's and are probably the best all around, affordable strut you can buy for the 240. They are pretty good performance-wise, and are easy to install. They last a good amount of time too. Most KYB problems I see happen right away, so you won't have to worry about not being covered under the warratny. The only bad thing is if you lower the car more than (IIRC 1.25") KYB reccommends, you'll void the warranty.

A lot depends on how you use the car. For a daily driver, I'd stick with the AGX setup for the best handling and ride quality.

Now, about the installation of the Koni's, how do you you know where you have to cut the front struts? Do they come with instructions?

cut!? i dont think you have to cut them. i know you do if you do a 4-5lug conversion, but i dont think you have to if you just bolt them on.

from my understanding (limited though it may be) the front koni shocks are actually inserts which go inside your original strut housing. You have to cut your oe struts, remove the insides, and bolt the koni's in. At least that's what I thought. Please correct/confirm if I'm right or wrong...

hmm, im not sure if you do or not. i was reading up and all the guys running them in their golfs at race tracks have blown them, but most are running them at the stiffest setting with very stiff springs. we'll see when i get mine.
