while driving i heard a weird noise from the front of the car. when i checked it out at home my pasanger side front wheel looked really weird, like it had a lot of negative camber. After taking the wheel off i inspected the strut (KYB AGX, i aslo have pro kit springs) and seen that the strut was not in place, the screw on top wasn't screwed on at all, and the whole strut piece literly was out of the hat, and you could see the top of it from the bottom. Now i have to take it apart and see if i can put it back on or if i will need a whole new strut. how does something like this happen? i'll try and get some pics tonight.

well the adjustment dial is missing, so i dunno if i have to get a new strut, or not. Does anyone know if KYB or the TIre Rack will replace this, i've had it for about 6 months.

This sounds like something else is going on. If you hit something hard enough to loose a lugnut you may have more damage to the suspension. Odds are the top mount is bad or the nut was not torqued correctly when they were installed. Neither of those things would be covered by a warranty. It wouldn't be a defect in the strut. Unless the threads got crossed or it was not torqued to the correct spec, there would be no way I can think of for the top nut to come off. Did you use a new nut on the top or did you reuse the old one? That should be replaced with a new nut. If you bought these from Tire Rack, contact customer service and they can walk you through how to get it inspected /replaced. It does not sound like this is a warranty issue from what you describe.

Grant, i called you earlier today, after you connected me to cumstomer service i sent out my strut. The post office said it's gonna take about two to three days. Anyways, i used the new nut it came with, and i bolted it down to the FSM specs. I do drive alot, and the roads around here have a lot of pot holes. Would this be the cause? How will you guys contact me to let me know what's going on once you get the strut? How long does it usually take for you to inspect it?Thanks

Once we get it here we will send it to KYB for inspection. They will usually get back to us in a couple of days with an answer one way or the other. If you can, get some photos of the upper strut mount on the car. They will likely want to see that as well.

If you can get photos of the mounts without the struts and with them installed, that would be great. Top and bottom if possible and just email them to me at [email protected]
