shock on hatch

I just noticed the hydraulic shock on the right side that holds up the rear hatch is loose. It moves side to side looks like it is loose on the frame. The one on the left does not move side to side at all. Just wondering if the shock just needs tightening or will need to be replaced?

Without seeing it I can't say if the shock needs to be replaced, but they just simply bolt in place so it's very possible that the mounting bolt is just loose. Take a closer look, see exactly where the movement is occurring and try tightening the bolt. I'd say the chances are good that the bolt just needs to be tightened.
