you won't need damper adj. for daily driving. Coilovers (adj or not) will own harder than strut/spring combo for drifting. I heard that Tein Basics feel like AGX on level 3 anyway, which isn't too bad. and even the lower end coilovers like the Basics or Pro S-0C II has higher spring rates than any lowering springs can offer. Just some thoughts...

not true nisyhralli, most low end coilovers do have or offer higher spring rates, but my kgmm springs are 6 up front and 5 out back. The rate i have are stiff enough for the drift/autocross type. I dont really know if i could tell the difference b/w a 8/7 setup and a 9/8 setup cuz once you pass the 6/5 range, id think it would all feel the same to the avg person

You have a valid point.

However the original poster was comparing AGX + LOWERING springs to low end coilovers. Lowering springs usually offer spring rates somewhere along the lines of 3/2 or even 2/1. Of course, I'd advise him to go with Koni yellows / RSR race springs if he really wanted to go that route or even KG/MM springs. Those sound pretty decent.

how are the rsr race for the street, id assume theyd be pretty bad but i like them. would the down or race be better for street combo like this, with limited track stuff?

The "race" spring rates are low enough for excellent street usage, but I would suggest a more substantial shock to go with that particular spring such as the Koni Yellow.

I've always wondered how long the AGXs would hold up with the RSR "race" springs. From what KYB has said in the past, I would imagine that the lifespan on AGXs wouldn't really be worthwhile from a cost standpoint (ie. you'd be better off with coilovers).

Are AGXs even rebuildable? Can you get them custom valved?

Keep in mind that the Koni Sport "yellows" are inserts up front, requiring you to chop your OE damper housing up and the rears aren't adjustable while on the car.

Still, the Konis seem like they'd be a great match with the RSR springs. I actually asked Koni about the combo once and they said the dampers could handle the springs, no problem. Then again, the answer came from one of their marketing guys.

Save up the money for a decent coilover such as the KTS. If you are set on saving money go with the koni struts RSR race springs. I currently have the AGX/Sportline combo and its way too soft. Take a look at my sig, thats with AGXs and sportlines.
