Been noticing a shiver or ripple in the car while on the breaks at low speed, like right before I come to a stop. No, I'm not hard breaking. At first I thought it was the road because it can get like a washboard where everyone stops at a light or stop sign, but it's happening too much and where the road is smooth. It's only on occasion I notice it but will be paying close attention now. What's up? Back to the dealer time?

It's an '07 SL hatch 6 speed.

Your brake rotors are warped. Take it to the dealer to be cut under warranty. It happens.

It seems like there are an immense amount of problems with the Versa...but hey, its a brand new model, in five years they will have all the kinks worked out...hopefully.

It works for me for the time being, and it makes me some cash!

I agree that your rotors are probably slightly warped. The warping is caused when the rotors are heated and cooled over and over again, which makes them change shape. This is actually VERY common, especially on cars with such small brake rotors. It happens alot to people who drive on roads with alot of curves (mountain roads, etc) because you have to constantly brake and let off while slowing for curves or going down a hill. It can also be caused by racing from stop light to stop light while city driving - accelerating hard and braking hard at each light. How many miles do you have on the car? This is typically a "wear and tear" thing and will likely not be covered under warranty unless you have only a few miles. Then they'll have a hard time saying that you could have been hard enough on the brakes yet, but in all honesty, it only takes a couple of times of heating them up to warp them.

The Versa is NOT bad for a first-year car (even though this car existed for a few years overseas, this is the first year for the US production, which uses a new engine, and several new parts not used elsewhere). Take a look at the list of recalls and TSBs on the previous generation Sentra and you'll know what I mean. The Versa is relatively flawless when compared to the B14 Sentra!

car currently has just under 700 miles, I drive like an old woman, and if the rotors were warped shouldn't it do it all the time?

700 miles is a REALLY short time for rotors to get warped, unless there was a severe defect in the metal that the rotors were made from.

If the car is equipped with ABS, I'd say it might actually be a faulty wheel sensor or ABS module... it actually sounds to me like (because it is intermittent) it might be the ABS actuating under the wrong conditions.

My car had the exact same problem the moment I drove off the lot. Went back to the dealer, they said too much runout at the rotors and they re-machined it and now it's smooth as silk!

I had to have my rotors done the day after i bought the car because the rust wouldnt come off of them. My gfs Xterra had to have them done after a year because they warped. Like I said it happens.
