So I talked to my dealer and she told me that my car left Mexico on Dec 4th. She said 2-3 weeks for the car to be here. On Dec 19th I called to see where the heck it was (just looking for updates... they should really GPS these so we can track them) She calls me on the 20th and said it was in Cranbrook BC (as of the 19th) which is just around the AB/BC southern border. So 3 weeks comes and goes (X-Mas day) and I call again today and talk to the GM. APPARENTLY the car is in VANCOUVER and loaded on the truck to go to EDMONTON and then it has to get to Calgary. I asked if I could walk and get my deposit back so I could go down the steet and get a Civic which initally my 1st choice. He said if I could wait 2 days and if my car was not here (which I feel is very doubtfull) he's gonna get me into a loaner, I should of pitched a fit a few weeks ago. I know that the waits are looooong, but really. I better love this car when it comes.

Just wondering... do the last 6 digits of your VIN begin with 39xxxx?

Actually, they don't need GPS to track the cars. They just need brains and the ability to type. All dealers use NNANet to track where their purchases are. Even other dealers can track to see where other dealers orders are. It may take a little while to get your car. My car was originally shipped by rail on the 28th of Nov. It didn't arrive to the final port until 19th of Dec. My dealer then had to put a rush on the car so that he could have it sent from the port to the dealership. I ended up getting the car one day before it should have been delivered to the delivered, Dec 21. If it took 22 days just to get a car from Mexico to Houston, then it's going to take a lot longer for you guy up there. If your car's on the move, it's on the way for sure. If you're still unsure if they are telling you the truth, tell them to show you a printout of NNANet or give your money back. Also, keep a hold of your VIN, it's like the key to your car. You'll be able to find your car in case it goes to someone else "by accident".

Now here's the weird thing. I don't have a VIN. I was reading the forum and called to ask for the VIN "Sorry, we won't have it until it's parked @ the dealership" I called a few times and no one will give it to me. I thought this was odd seeing as the insurance rep I was dealing with said I should have it and it seems to be the consensus on here too. I'm going to call some other dealers too and see what they say. I'm going there tomorrow, we'll see......

Yea something is not right. There's been tons of posting on the process. To sum it up, when the dealer adds the vehicle to their allocation and it's accepted by Nissan, then they are given an order number. When the car is being built, that order is then updated with a VIN. For them not to know the VIN is an all out lie. If you're car is on the move across the country, it most definitely has a VIN. A salesman may not know since most don't keep track of sales. If a sales manager or GM told me that, I would laugh all the way out of the door with my deposit in hand. If you can't get you car within the next few days, leave and go somewhere else. You don't need to business with liars. If you do get your car soon, take all your warranty work and service to another dealer who will be honest with you.
