So do you have to align the passenger side teeth with the output. Shaft teeth before you tightening the vlsd and ring gear? Before shimming this rear end I could force one side to move without the other and now I can't. Since I can't move the shafts separate if it wasn't aligned when. I tightened it, could that cause this?

man thats hard to follow first thing in the morning. long story short when i tightened mine i had the foresight to do so with the stub axle in the carrier.

So I think I see what your saying. So take the assy. Back out, loosen, align with output shafts, tighten and reinstall?

yea, i put the stub axle in the carrier before tightening the ring gear just to make sure everything lined up. its ballz tight in there with that extra shim, too tight to turn. i still had to smack the long stub axle in with a hammer, i wasn't very nice to it either if i remember correctly. just to note i put the j30 vlsd center section into my stock open pumpkin with the stock ring and pinion to keep my speedo correct, if it makes a difference.

Woo! I told that b**** who's boss! I loosened up the ring gear/vlsd and main caps, beat the hell out of it to align it and beet it in and it went. Thanks man. I definitely was not nice to it! Lol. Now I just gotta tighten her back up. Im excited to get rid of my welded and 2 piece driveshaft...and 4.08 gears. So for anyone shimming there vlsd align the passenger side output shaft with the guts before you tighten the ring gear! Man, the next one I do will be so much easier.
