My first maintenance post since the reconfiguration... I almost posted this in general discussion

Ok so here's the deal. My car is, and has been, having trouble shifting gears. Particularly in the 1st -2nd and 2nd - 1st transitions. However, there is an all over feeling of hard, then snappy shifting. Sometimes I can even hear it when it finally decides to budge (metal on metal thud).

Do I have a synchro problem, or do I need to add some sort of gear lube? Ideas?

I would try changing the tranny fluid to some redline mt90 if your sure it's not your clutch.

definatly check and change your manual trans gear lube because it may be too late the tranny costs alot more then the fluid

Only thing I can say is try getting a hold of nissan trans fluid, I have found out the hard way that usually the manufacturers trans fluid is best. Redline is also a good option and since your trans seems to be badly worn you may need some friction modifiers (such as those found in some Redline fluids). either of these should be good, I wouldn't just run Mobil1 Synth in it or some other high grade oil, run something that may help fix the problem.

If this helps any, the dealership I bought it from claims to have put in a new clutch. When I'm parked, I can kind of play with it if you will, and it gets smoother.

Definitely go with some Redline Synthetic MT90. You may have old fluid or the wrong fluid in there or possibly other problems. I'd start with a fluid change though.

Jerry is back!

And it sounds like everyone's consensus is new tranny fluid... I'll start there and get back to you guys! Thanks
