I have a 1994 Nissan 240SX Convertible, automatic transmission. I love the car, but I am totally irritated (to say the least) with a problem I've been having for well over a year. Intermittently it will not shift from first to second gear. I have tried manually shifting, shifting into neutral and back into drive, stopping and turning it off then back on again. Sometimes one of these things will work and sometimes it just finally decides to shift, and then it's very violent. Last October I had taken it to Aamco, convinced it was a transmission problem. After 4 days, they finally said that they had duplicated the problem and had obtained authorization from our warranty company to put in a rebuilt transmission. For about 6 months after that, it never happened. Then it started again, and it's worse this time. I have done some research, and realize that there are approximately 12 sensors that could be contributing to this issue.

Has anyone else had or heard of this? Please :help !

Thank you!

It's possible you have a bad connection at a connector or a broken or damaged wire in the harness that when the trans was replaced the connection was corrected for a short period of time. If it was a trans controller it would have started right after the trans replacement.
