I drive a 1995 Nissan 240sx, a pretty basic model from the reading I've done on it. Anyway, it started about a week ago when my automatic transmission was having difficulty shifting from park to any of the other gears. Since I live in Kansas and it is December, I just figured that it was probably since the car was cold and needed to warm up. So the first few times I let the car warm up, and it shifted just fine.. but now, the transmission won't move period. I sat out there for a good 15 minutes, pressing on the break and trying to put it into gear, but it was to no avail.
I was flipping through the owner's manual to see if they had any suggestions and I came across a part where it read, I quote:
" Warning: If the shift lever cannot be moved from the "P" position while the engine is running and the brake pedal depressed, the stop lights may not work. Malfunctioning stop lights could cause an accident injuring yourself or others. "
So, when I saw this, I figured it was a good chance to try this, since I haven't owned the car long. So, if this doesn't work which I'm hoping it will, do any of you guys have any suggestions on what the problem with it could be?
