Regarding 2003 G35 coupe.

When the car is in automatic mode, can you feel the shift from 4th to 5th as much as the other gears? I can bearly feel it on mine and you usually see the rev gauge drop a bit but it only drops by 200revs. Im not sure if its shifting from 4th to 5th?

Does the engine act as a brake in 5th gear doing around 60mph you can feel it like pull back a bit?

Well, here's some food for thought.

5th gear is definately over drive. Meaning it's less than a 1:1 ratio. Typically the higher gears are very close in ration to each other.

On the six speed, the difference between going 60 in 5th vs 6th is less than 500 rpm.

Now as for the engine braking. I noticed on the 07 I drove, that it did indeed engine brake when you slowed down considerably. Feeling a little bit of a lag when you release the throttle sounds more like you're not getting into 5th.
