Just checking out the FAQS in 240sx.org and came across this. It says that if you remove something under the left front wheel well by the edge of the engine bay that there will be no more lag when the car shifts if you have an automatic. Has any done this??

Its a dropping resistor and I didnt like it. It clinks hard into drive and then into reverse. Didnt help my times even a bit at the track. This and the fact that when you let off the throttle in 3rd it kicks to neutral, thus having to re-rev when you then again punch it, rather sucks. I mean we dont have massive amounts of engine braking in third to begin with but its nice to have.

The CEL didnt even bother me as I've run with a CEL for 3 of the 3.5 yrs ive owned the car.

I did this mod, and the resistor in the air-temp sensor, and neither one did anything spectacular. The slam into drive from neutral was knocking my fillings loose, and the transmission fluid seemed to be "frothy" after about 20 or 30 miles. Not sure if the two are related, but coincidences rarely follow that close.

DONT DO IT...IT WILL DESTROY YOUR TRANSMISSION..you are acutally doing a more mild nuetral drop everytime it shifts...that is why the car jerks and makes u feel like your driving a stick.....do not do it

Yea the fluid pressure will be to high and on a older transmission you could blow a seal or smoke a clutch.

i thought about removing mine, but i figured why should i? doesn't make it faster and it just makes the shifting rougher which makes the drive more uncomfortable. plus, it messes up the transmission it looks like. and you are right Lobot, just get a 5spd, which is what i'm doing. :)
