i have a 1985 maxima would i be able to get a short throw shifter for it?

yes i got mine from cosmic racing. works great. give yourself plenty of time to install preferably spray all the bolts under (exhaust, exhaust shield and shifter) the car with pb blaster the night before. i capped mine off with a hurst t handle from my racecar i sold when i found out i knocked up the wife
