What is going on??? i just bought my 240 yesterday and today(i don't know if this has anything to do with it), i tried to get the shift knob off by unscrewing it with my hands. i really did it hard, but to no avail, cause it didn't come off, even though i was actually turning the shifter itself. Then later on my shifting became really difficult especially in first and second gears. now i can't even put it in first or second and barely can mash it into third. what the hell is going on? when i turned the knob, could i have possibly done something bad inside the transmission itself? cause now it won't even run and then only gear that i can use is reverse cause i can't get started off. also, it is idling really really low, about 8-900 (hundred) rpm and my battery light is on, though the dealer i bought it from said he put in a new battery.

that sucks man. i dont know what could have happend when you turned it, maybe put something out of alignment, but i do know the shift knobs are on there very tight. I've read on other threads that the way most people removed theirs was to wrap it in a towel and use something like vise-grips to unscrew it.

control arm, lol...

u have a manual transmission? take apart the shift boot, and pull out the stick, and reinstall it and make sure its in straight, you might of twisted it...i doubt you hurt your control arm.
