shifter stuck?now top wont work...

i have a 92 auto vert,the car within an instant started this.did a small powerbrake and parked it for about 15 minutes and then this! my top doesnt work,i only have 2nd and drive,reverse,netrual, and park.the shiftlock override must be used or the knob wont depress to remove from park.i know now that i need a 5spd swap and im on it...till then this issue wreeks havoc on my dd.spent 3hrs and a multi meter and came up empty.i checked both sensors on the break pedal and they are ok.i got angrey and found a parts car and changed the shiftlock control unit,the shifter with all three sensors and nothing yet.some knowlage would be of help to me.found out today that i have a bad voltage regulator,this wouldnt do this would it? im changing alt asap but i dont think this has anything to do with the above problem.
